Experience
I received my B. A. in Comparative Literature in addition to a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. My experience in working with children began when I was in high school. I spent time volunteering in a library, a day care, and several classroom settings. I greatly enjoyed my time working with children and assisting them in a wide range of educational activities. I spent three years teaching second grade at a San Diego private school. My favorite memories of that time are the times I spent working with students individually or in a small group. In addition, I spent extra time tutoring students after school in various subjects. I am greatly passionate about reaching my students by using different teaching styles to adapt instruction to meet their individualized needs. I teach all elementary school subjects, ISEE prep, Literature, and Essay Editing, but my passion is in teaching students to read. Encouraging a love of reading in students is so important because books open up a world of discovery, imagination, and creative ideas. When I'm not teaching, I spend time going on walks along the beach and of course, reading. My favorite books are realistic fiction and biographies.
